Steve Shares His Experience Working with Recovery Victoria

Despite playing ”lip service” to the ideas of working “impartially”, “dispassionately” and not taking on my clients’ “success”, I do tend to take ownerships of my clients, I am human. I work as a Recovery Coach/Aftercare coordinator at EHN Rockies in Fort Steele (Cranbrook BC). My Name is Steve Norton. 

I set up the aftercare program here in 2016 at what was then Top of the World Ranch after completing the program in 2015 and entering my own recovery journey. My work soon introduced me to Trevor Franklin and the Recovery Victoria Program. 

Trevor and Recovery Victoria have become my “go to” program for clients that express interest in 2nd stage and have the means/opportunity to attend. Trevor has the ability to remove barriers and delays in getting interested clients into the houses. Trevor’s commitment to helping clients access Recovery Victoria.

 One example (of many) of Trevor’s commitment came recently when he literally put his wrenches down to take a call from myself and a perspective client on a Saturday (my schedule runs Tue – Sat). Trevor is always willing to take that initial call. I would guess that, in my experience, over 90% of clients that make that initial call with Trevor find themselves in the Recovery Victoria program. This is a magnitude higher than any other 2nd stage program that I have worked with over the years. Trevor has taken time out of his annual bike trips to swing by the treatment center and has done presentations on 2nd stage living with interested clients. Trevor has welcomed me into Recovery Victoria on a trip to visit my daughter in Victoria. 

The recovery Victoria program is a well thought out program delivered with intent. Offering a seamless progression for clients that we work with in our aftercare program. During the time I have been working with Trevor the program has constantly evolved. A couple recent examples: a client I worked with was/is involved with the REFRAME program that was set up. another client is now helping to spearhead the recovery/peer coach addition to the program. 

Recovery Victoria is run with clear intent and strictly adheres to best practices, and at the same time, demonstrates consistently, the ability to meet clients where they are at - with the client‘s best interest at the forefront. 

My personal experience, from the initial phone call to intake and all of the continuing feedback I receive from clients consistently demonstrates that Trevor, his entire team and the program as a whole are hitting it out of the park. 

I do not hesitate to recommend this program and team and will continue to use it as my “go to” for appropriate clients.
